Excel Level 1 – One Day Workshop

This class was developed for those who are new to Excel, for those wanting to update their skills, as well for anyone who is self-taught. In this workshop you will create and edit workbooks that will help you save time and increase accuracy. You will learn how to enter and edit data efficiently, format and create time saving basic formulas. Suitable for use with Excel 2010/2013/2016 Windows Users.

Prerequisite: Basic Computer Skills (i.e. cut/copy/paste, file management skills)

Excel Level 2 - One Day Workshop

Course ID: CMEX 024 F18N01 (Nanaimo)

Expand your skills by learning how to use tables and database sort and filter capabilities. Create formulas that link to sheets and other workbooks. Control data input and create charts to communicate data visually. Suitable for use with Excel 2010/2013/2016 Windows Users.

Prerequisite: Basic Excel and formula skills.

Excel Level 3 - One Day Workshop

Course ID: CMEX 025 F18N01 (Nanaimo)

You will gain hands-on experience with Excel features such as PivotTables, PivotCharts and slicers to summarize and analyze large amounts of data in an interactive, visual way. Create templates for consistency and to save time. Add Vlookup and IF formulas to your repertoire. Suitable for Excel 2010/2013/2016 Windows users.

Intro to Computers

Course ID: CMIN 010

For those who are comfortable working with computers but have little experience and want to fill gaps and learn more. A non-technical course, this workshop includes an introduction to various MS Office applications, advanced email skills, internet search techniques, and file management procedures including creating, saving, opening and printing files. Bring a 1 GB flash drive to class.

MS Office Brush-Up

This hands-on, two day course, is perfect for anyone looking to improve upon outdated or rusty computer skills. Students will gain job ready skills and efficiency with hands-on practice in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. This course is suitable for those with basic skills in any version of MS Office.

Basic Elements of Bookkeeping Level 1

Learn bookkeeping from the ground up. Become trained in journalizing transactions, posting to the various ledgers, creating financial statements and year-end adjustments, and closing the books at year-end. In-class participation is based on practical situations. Valuable if you have a small business, belong to a non-profit group or need to upgrade your job skills. No bookkeeping experience required. Basic Elements of Bookkeeping Level 2

This course builds on the concepts and skills developed in the popular Bookkeeping Level 1. Continue to record transactions, and expand your skills to include merchandising and manufacturing companies, partnerships and corporations. Sales tax remittances, payroll calculations and remittances, amortization, gain/loss on disposal of capital assets, inventory, interest, some analysis of financial statements and the organization of source documents are topics covered. A comparison of different bookkeeping software packages is presented. Manual included.

SAGE 50 Accounting Level 1

Prerequisites: Computer Basics or equivalent, keyboarding skills, plus some experience in bookkeeping.

SAGE 50 Accounting Level 2

Building on the skills acquired in Level 1, this course deals with setting up data files, bank reconciliation, credit card usage, security, budgets, projects and extra inventory features. Also covers additional payroll features and foreign currencies. Textbook purchased separately.

Prerequisites: Simply Accounting Level 1 or equivalent experience.

QuickBooks Level 1

Course ID: CMQM 030

Learn QuickBooks and the fundamentals of accounting for small business for billing, generating estimates, collections, inventory management and payroll. Record daily transactions, avoid costly interest and payroll penalties, and deal effectively with GST/PST and Canada Revenue Agency. Learn to reduce audit and accounting costs. This course includes hands-on experience, review tests and spreadsheet submissions. Textbook purchased separately.

Prerequisites: Computer Basics or equivalent, keyboarding skills, plus some experience in bookkeeping.

QuickBooks Level 2

Basic Rescuer: CPR Level C (8 Hours)

The course covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies (CPR Level C)

Safety Awareness & First Aid for Childhood Emergencies (8 hours)

Course ID: QFAC 001 F18D01

Basic one-day course designed to introduce caregivers to injury prevention skills and knowledge. Course covers lifesaving first aid skills and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR and AED) for children, and babies. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial early childhood education and day care worker safety requirements.

1 Session, Friday, November 16, 2018 – 8:30 – 5 PM, Cowichan Campus

Standard First Aid Red Cross (16 hours)

Course ID: QSTF 001 F18D01

This is a comprehensive two-day course that includes primary survey, critical intervention, airway management, and life support of infants, children, and adults. Learn how to handle emergencies including internal and external bleeding; shock; head, neck, and back injuries; fractures; and chest and abdominal injuries. Discuss injuries related to exposure to heat and cold and medical emergencies such as heart attacks and strokes. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a three-year certificate that includes CPR Level C. Minimum age: 16 years.

2 Day Course, Friday, November 30 – Saturday December, 1, 2018 – 8:30 – 5 PM, Cowichan Campus

Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C (8 hours)

Course ID: QEFA 001 S19D01

This course provides simple First Aid & CPR techniques taught in an interactive environment for individuals who want an overview of First Aid & CPR for home or the workplace. The course covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies (CPR Level C) and other topics such as choking, airway and breathing emergencies and prevention of disease transmission. Certificate is valid for 3 years.

Human Anatomy and Physiology for Practical Nurses

Course ID: HHPN 001

An overview of structure and function of the human body, including various health promotion strategies supporting optimal function. Topics include the disease transmission process and medical terminology relevant to normal human anatomy and physiology. Prerequisite: None.
